Academics

AGES 11 - 14

Cambridge Lower Secondary (Years 7 - 9)

In Years 7 to 9, the students follow the Cambridge Lower Secondary. This enables the school to impart learning to our students in the core subjects of Maths, English and Science. We also offer additional subjects such as Social Sciences (Geo, Bus, Acc, Eco, GP), IRE, ICT, Kiswahili and Physical Education.

In the second term of Year 9 the students are counselled and guided to select the subject combinations that they want to learn at the IGCSE level based on their interests and aptitude.

At the end of the Lower Secondary in Year 9, students sit for the Lower Secondary Checkpoint Examination.

AGES 14 - 16

Cambridge IGCSE (Years 10 and 11)

In years 10 and 11 the school offers the IGCSE curriculum from Cambridge International. The students are offered a choice of subjects under Core and Optional Groups: 

Core Subjects include: English (First Language), Mathematics, Kiswahili, Geography, Physics, Chemistry, Biology and IRE 

Students can then select 2 additional subjects from the options below:

  • Business Studies
  • Economics
  • Accounting
  • Geography

All students follow the core subjects and then opt for 2 out of the 4 optional subjects provided.  At the end of Year 11, the students sit for  their Cambridge  IGCSE Exams.

AGES 16 - 19

Cambridge International AS and A Level
(Years 12 and 13)

In years 12 and 13 the school offers the Cambridge International curriculum at AS and A Levels. This is the worlds most popular international qualification and prepares our students for tertiary education.  The syllabuses develop a deep understanding of subjects and independent thinking skills.

At Al Muntazir, the A-Level students can choose 3 CORE subjects from the following options:

  • Economics   
  • Business Studies
  • Accounting 
  • Mathematics 
  • Geography   
  • Physics     
  • Chemistry       
  • Biology 

 

Students also have an option to study Psychology as an additional subject with any of the above combinations.
